The dads discuss Marty’s obsessive drive to become the best ping-pong player in the world, his selfish treatment of friends and lovers, the London tournament, Endo’s superior Japanese paddle technique, the journey to Japan, the exhibition match, the pig-kissing humiliation and the film’s similarities to Uncut Gems, The Karate Kid and White Men Can’t Jump. Chris gives the film a strong recommend, while Dan lands closer to mid-to-strong because Marty is such an intensely unlikeable character.
